I found this as I was going through some pictures and remembered how much fun I had during this set with my shoot with Paul Buceta.
I am always looking for new ways to add variety to my workouts and I had incorporated the hula hoop after hearing what a great low-impact full-body workout it was!
“Hooping” burns on average 7 calories a minute! It improves cardio endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination, and it tones the legs, arms, and back. It’s also a great way to firm up your midsection and strengthen your core!
There are actually group classes, videos, and one on one sessions available at certain gyms or studios.
There are different sizes of hoops so make sure you choose a hoop that is the correct size for you. It should be between your waist and chest when it is resting vertically on the ground. For an extra challenge, there are also weighted ones available.
You know the drill: One foot in front of the other shift your weight back and forth from foot to foot while rocking the hoop around your midsection. Once you have practiced the basics, try balancing on one foot.
So, I know it’s winter but who cares, bring your hoop to the gym and find and area to “hoop it up”! It will make you laugh and relieve stress all while adding variety to your workout. These fun “children” toys aren’t only for kids ya know!
